Why Can't My Technician See the Job?

A checklist for when an assigned job doesn't show up, or can't be edited, in a technician's mobile app.

Written by Laszlo Malinovszky

You assigned a job, but your technician says it isn't on their phone, or they can't add anything to it. Work through this checklist, it solves almost every case.

Good to know: One user can only be logged in on one device at a time. If you log in on another device, the first device shows "You have been logged out, because you logged in from another device." Each person should have their own user account; do not share one login between several people.

Checklist

  1. Is the job scheduled? A job needs both a technician and a date and time slot. Without a date it stays Unscheduled, without a technician it stays Unassigned.

  2. Is it assigned to the right user? Open the job and check the technician field. Technicians only see jobs assigned to them.

  3. Has the technician accepted it? A newly assigned job is Pending until the technician accepts it (unless Automatic Job Confirmation is on). If they rejected it, it shows as Rejected.

  4. Is the user activated? In Settings → User Settings, a "Not activated" label means they haven't created their password yet.

  5. Is the user a Technician (or higher)? A Placeholder user has no rights.

  6. Is the technician logged in with their own user? If several people share one login, only one device stays logged in and the others see the wrong jobs or get logged out.

  7. Is the app up to date? Ask them to update from the App Store / Google Play and restart the app.

  8. Is a filter or search active? A leftover search term or filter can make lists look empty. Clear it and refresh.

The technician sees the job but can't edit it

  • They need to tap Edit on the job.

  • If the job has no date/time, schedule it first.

  • If the job is already Finalizing or Closed, the technician has finished it. The office can edit it while it's in Finalizing, or reopen it (see related articles).

  • If you edited the job in the office while the technician had it open, ask them to close the app, wait a minute and open the job again.

Troubleshooting / Common questions

The technician sees a logout message

The message "You have been logged out, because you logged in from another device." means the same user logged in on another phone, tablet or computer. Log in again on the device they use, and give every person their own user account (Settings → User Settings) instead of sharing a login.

Do jobs sync instantly?

Changes normally appear after the app refreshes, which happens every 30 seconds.
